Stringrae, sorry for not acknowledging your reply earlier but I have had problems with my pc and I am only reinstating my bookmarks as I remember them.
I recall looking on another site which suggested there was not a cure for duckweed but I think I will give this a try. Thanks

Remember that duck weed also prevents the suns penetration into the water and removing it could then give you another problem of green water due to algae in the summer. So maybe you should consider additional surface covering plants like water lilies
