While we protected our brassicas from pigeons, the cabbage white butterfly caterpillar seems to have done some serious damage to the Savoy Cabbage and others...

Should we cut off the stripped leaves??

Are they going to amount to anything this year??

Once the caterpillars have grown into butterflies the damage will stop and the plants may recover. Stripping off the leaves may make them look better and may encourage new growth which will be tastier.

You could try covering them, or similar plants, with horticultural fleece next year. It lets light and rain in but keep butterflies out.
