You wouldn't get whet with an umbrolly Will. Nobody would want to eat a cake with me in it. It would be too sour.
Keep calm and carry on.

Yes, it could be. It's what our son called them when he was little, and they've been umbrollies ever since.

That Rhiannon got hit by here fella, ella, ella eeeerrrrr, ella ella, eeeeerrrrr

You get the gist!

Love umbrolly, I'm going to use that with my ever increasing nieces & nephews :D

Anyway, getting back to serious matters!, heres the recipe:

Quick Apple Cake
Serves 4.

Ingredients:
Butter/oil for greasing the pan.
10 tbsp plain flour + extra for dusting
8 tbsp margarine
7 tbsp sugar
2 eggs
3 tbsp baking powder
2 tbsp orange juice
4 eating apples, peeled, cored & chopped
3 tbsp chopped walnuts (optional)

Grease a cake tin (20cm diameter) with butter/oil, then shake some flour around to dust it completely.

Melt the margarine in a large saucepan, beat in 5 tbsp of sugar (2 tbsp used later) with a wooden spoon or balloon whisk until mixture is pale & creamy.

Mix in the eggs, flour, baking powder & orange juice, then stir in the chopped apples.

Pour in to the tin. Spread the walnuts (if using) over the top of the cake & sprinkle the remaining sugar on top.

Bake in a preheated oven at 160C/Gas mark 3 for about 1 hour until the centre springs back when lightly pressed & top is golden.

Remove from the oven & leave to stand for 10 minutes.

THEN EAT IT!
8)

Enjoy.

ps: I've tried this with whatever apples i've got lying about, usually use Braeburn's as there my fav but you could use any.

Hi GFS, :D I haven't tried it because I don't like apples....I mean the fruit not our lovely gardenlaw apples who is sweet and very likable.

I have a carrot cake recipe but if I told you I would have to kill you and killing is not legal yet so can't get away with it so just can't do it, unless I am given a licence to kill but it is doubtful….oh not fair...wooo!

If you find the carrot cake recipe I will try it and let you know if it is as fantabulous as mine. 8)

I've tried this recipe yesterday. It's really amazing. It's very different method, ingredients also available easily, and very simple to make. So you can try it.
