Mince pies made more yummy

Postby WILL*REMAIN*STRONG » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:47 pm

Shops own mince pies are cheap enough and quite yummy. But they can be exceptionally nice if stuffed at home.

I use mince meat from a jar, thinly sliced marzipan, rum soaked fruit, brandy soaked cherries/mixed fruit and alternate what I use so they don't get boring.

The tops come off easily, so extra goodies can be put in with ease. It is far nicer to make your own, but shop bought mince pies with a little extra filling of your own are far cheaper and nicer than ones they say are extra filled.

Just a little tip for mince pie lovers this Christmas. :)

We always heat ours up in the microwave and put brandy cream on top, this might be overkill for some, but it should be compulsory really.

What do you say when someone asks if you made them yourself? Oh yes, with a little help from Mr. Kipilng. 8)
It's a good idea Will. We always heat them in the microwave too until they're bubbling, and too hot to eat.
Keep calm and carry on.

 I bet a lot of people say they have baked things that Mr Kipling actually baked, well the Mr Kipling factory.

I leave them in the microwave for too long as well, the cream melts so fast, you get messy.

Do you make your own mince pies apples?

Mince pies don't last long in my house so there would be no time to make the fillings any nicer.
