REPLACING Garden fence

REPLACING Garden fence

Postby melanie » Sat Apr 02, 2005 11:58 pm

WE LIVE IN A TERRACED HOUSE AND HAVE RECENTLY TAKEN DOWN OUR ROTTING 5FT FENCE. WE SPOKE TO OUR NEIGHBOURS AND TOLD THEM THAT WE WOULD BE REPLACING IT WITH A 6FT FENCE FOR OUR PRIVACY, THEY SAID THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM. THERE IS A 4FT HIGH BY 12FT LONG WALL ON OUR BOUNDARY COMING OFF OF THE NEIBOURS HOUSE (IN LINE WITH THE FENCE), BECAUSE OF THE NEW 6FT FENCE WE WANT TO CONTINUE IT ALL THE WAY UP WHICH MEANS PUTTING TWO PANELS ON OUR SIDE OF THE WALL KEEPING THE SAME HEIGHT ALL THE WAY ALONG. OUR NEIGHBOUR HAS OBJECTED TO THIS BECAUSE IT IS BLOCKING PART OF THEIR VIEW WHICH ONLY LOOKS INTO OUR GARDEN.
CAN THEY OBJECT TO THIS :?:

MANY THANKS

You are fully entitled to install fencing up to 6ft6 in from your ground level

So if theres a wall then a fence plus wall from your ground level the 2 together cannot exceed 6ft6in

They may ask if you have planning consent to erect the fence, but as long as it's on your property and doesn't exceed the permitted height, there may be little your neighbours can do to stop you, nobody is entitled to a view.
