Re: Slate Chippings Vs Mulch???
Thanks. Yes I think I do prefer the 'slate' option, with the membrane underneath. The trees have been in a few weeks now and seem to be doing well. I'll leave it a little longer then put these sheets down leaving a circle around the roots and then the slate/gravel ontop. How big of a circle around t...

Re: Fence Removal Law?
Mr Sheen - I NEVER said they 'couldnt' did I???? This forum is represented by its users and their comments left, Id suggest some people stop concentrating on being so damn sarcastic, which im sure they will twist around by suggesting they are merely stating the 'truth'. My point is there are nice wa...

Slate Chippings Vs Mulch???
Having just put new compost down around all my new trees/shrubs ive noticed (im a first time gardener!) weeds are popping up all over the place! At the moment im just pinching them up rather than using weed killer as these trees are so new I dont want to risk killing any of them, but im realising I ...

Re: Erection of higher fence adjacent highway
My neighbours went and erected a 6ft fence that leads right onto the public pavement/busy corner/road, no planning permission, no neighbours permission...they just put it up!( Just shows some people really dont care and dont even attempt to ask for permission sometimes. Id just be careful you dont m...

Fence Removal Law?
Hi, Just wondering about this - I remember being told if a fence boundary is moved and stands that way for 12 years it becomes the new boundary? My neighbours fence was decaying badly and they wouldnt allow 'us' to buy them a new one (as it was the only fence between us for several years. They are a...

Re: Flashing lights!
Thanks, yes I could put a trellis just where all the cable ties are, so it doesnt look so bad from my side. Its just the fact I cant avoid them being over the fence 'height', they are really bright large bulbs too, infact I probably wouldnt mind half as much if they were white as even thats less int...

Re: Flashing lights!
Ok wowwww with some of the comments this was actually quite light hearted I know its not the 'end of the world'! But my point wasnt that we put up lights now they have so Im demanding they take them down?! My point is that these are WAY ABOVE the 6ft fence height they tower over my garden - i...

Re: Painting your own fence?
Interesting Thanks! They actually leant over into our garden and painted 'their' front fencing, which annoyed me purely because I later discovered theyd splashed my paving/cream coping with brown creasol, but also as it just looked wrong leaning over like that whilst at the same time ignoring me bei...

Radio Noise?
Urghhh hands up who hates having to listen to their neighbours damn radio!? Through this gorgeous weather, theres nothing I like more than sitting outside, relaxing and enjoying the peace of the garden...the birds singing, the leaves blowing in the wind...and....whats that? Rhianna on full wack?!!!!...

Flashing lights!
Ok those that know my situation, know my neighbour may have a bout of jealous going on and its seemingly more obvious by the day... We recently are adding the 'finishing' touches to our propertys renovation, we put some tiny white fairy lights half way up our tree (which is at the other side of the ...

Painting your own fence?
Hi Everyone, Regarding your 'own' fencing (ie I fully paid, erected, on my property) I know it is a violation for a neighbour to paint 'my' fence, and that I am not allowed to go onto their property to paint the other side of my fence, BUT - am I allowed to paint the other side of my fence for what ...

Re: What type of neighbour are you?
Hehe 'soft touch has been mentioned a couple of times, this is what I thought  but you say no to a woman like that, even at the start and we'd have ended up in the same predicament with her just earlier - she just wants her way, what makes me laugh is her bizarre understanding that 'we' are in...

What type of neighbour are you?
I wanted to start a 'light hearted' topic to get an understanding of the different types of people/view points out there as neighbours - in comparison to mine(!) and adding your neighbour situations onto this post too... :) So imagine yourself in my situation below and post with what 'you' would do ...

Re: What to do if neighbour ignores polite request?
It is the same builder that has done some of her previous work. He doesnt have a 'company' van or anything just a trailer, who knows what he is. (or what she even needs doing) Yes, we actually do the opposite - we're as friendly as anything with their builders...whilst she was verbally abusive to ou...
