Re: Insurance Cover - Is it best to be the aggressor or the victim??
I did politely point out early in this thread that legal insurance tends not to cover boundary disputes You did indeed, I was just confirming that my legal policy didn't seem to cover such a dispute when I made the enquiry. However, I could be wrong and would welcome any other experiences with peop...

Re: Insurance Cover - Is it best to be the aggressor or the victim??
For what its worth, due to another post that I made on this forum, I also checked my insurance company with whom I have been covered for the last 5 or 6 years and I have legal cover also. I phoned their legal helpline and they suggested that boundary disputes are not covered either as the person tak...

Re: Neighbour wants to to use our side of garden to erect fe
Hi arborlad Yes this is the same fence. As my previous thread, neighbour was saying that the LR showed our fence straight but over time it had moved. We have bought the house like it was and according to our neighbour the previous owner of their house installed the fence slightly inside their bounda...

Re: Neighbour wants to to use our side of garden to erect fe
I think he just wants to replace the existing fence at the same position. He has a supporting piece of wood on our side of the boundary, but the rest of his fence panels are on his side. As I originally posted, under normal circumstances, I would not have a problem for his contractors to come on our...

Neighbour wants to to use our side of garden to erect fence
Our neighbour wants to replace the existing wooden fence at the front of the garden and to do that, he wants to have access to our front garden. Under normal circumstances it wouldn't be an issue, but in the recent past he has also said that the fence running down the side of the house (it's his fen...

Re: Boundary dispute and remortgage
From when I did an AP on my property, I remember that the neighbouring properties got a letter asking whether they objected etc. I supplied lots of pictures to the surveyor and he was shown round the bit of land that I was asking for (which was fenced off with a brick fence) and I showed him older p...
2m Fence?
Just for clarification. My neighbours house is on slightly higher ground than mine (the road is on an incline). He has fitted new fence boards (it's his fence), the height of the fence is higher than 2m from my side, so I just wanted to know, should it be 2m from my side or from his side? Many thank...

Re: Extension over mains water pipe.
Hi We recently completed an extension. Since we have a detached house, we moved our drain to the side of the house and had to submit drawings for the 'build over'. There was no stipulation that it had to be 3m away from the side or anything like that. On a commercial project I did, where there was n...

Re: Yet another dispute!
Going through a similar situation myself. This is what I understand from my reading but experienced forum members can probably advise better. 1. The straight line in the plans is only a guide of where the boundary is, it is not an absolute boundary line 2. Boundaries move over time and it could be t...

Re: Council tax ... caravan on building site?
My understanding is that if it your main residence, then it will be subject to Council Tax, but first there will need to be a valuation done (which will probably be on the main property). This is the case with barges etc. I think in practical terms, if you receive a letter demanding council tax and ...

Could you not cut back the hedge - or will the neighbour not allow that?

Re: Don't need this pressure on
Hi John Thank you for your reply. Both of our extensions are build. We were just going to use driveway bricks to pave the side of the house to where the fence is (it's a detached house) but neighbour is saying only brick to where he has set up the string because that is where he says is the boundary...

Don't need this pressure on
Hello All I was wondering if someone could please give me some advice on a situation that is causing both me and my wife a lot of stress. We bought out house in 2009, and have been living there since without any issues. This year we started to do an extension. Our neighbour also did a little side ex...
