Re: Outdoor socket drilled into wall - who is responsible?

I've never been refused access to carry out this type of work, there is always some goodwill there. A thousand pounds does seem a bit much for the sort of work you've described, but it is the sort of figure that despair would be advising if a disgruntled neighbour joins the Forum and wants advice. ...

Re: Outdoor socket drilled into wall - who is responsible?

Is there possibly something in asbestos removal regulations that could force their hand into allowing your removal contractor access to remove it? You would think so wouldn't you. I will ask the contractor today. I seem to be falling between the cracks of various Acts. Not Party Wall as demolition ...

Re: Outdoor socket drilled into wall - who is responsible?

Thanks for the responses. The asbestos is complicating matters significantly. I think actually the socket needs to be removed by a licensed asbestos contractor as the wall will be significantly disturbed. Which also means that if I remove the wall around it I could potentially leave them with a floa...

Re: Outdoor socket drilled into wall - who is responsible?

It will be dangerous in terms on contamination to leave the socket in place whilst I am removing the asbestos from my side so I do need to remove before I start. I did ask them if I can remove the asbestos from their side (and the socket at the same time) but they threw an exorbitantly expensive lic...

Re: Outdoor socket drilled into wall - who is responsible?

No I'm pretty sure I don't have a right of way. The 'wall' is basically the side of a flimsy conservatory which I want to demolish. It is covered in asbestos board to complicate matters. I have already tried and failed to negotiate access to remove the asbestos from their side. Now I have to remove ...

Re: Outdoor socket drilled into wall - who is responsible?

Thanks. So I can ask for it to be removed? I would offer to remove myself but they won't give access to their land.

What if they refuse?

Outdoor socket drilled into wall - who is responsible?

Hi, I have trawled the forum but was unable to find a similar situation. Basically my neighbour has an outdoor socket drilled into my boundary wall and also my fence. I need the socket removing as I want to demolish the wall. The neighbour thinks they are not responsible for it as it was installed b...
