Ok chaps - little update on this I have made various enquiries. Waiting for an official response from the Law Society, but in the meantime I have found some things through other channels: In theory the contents of my letter would be subject to confidentiality, but the only way to be certain it seems...

despair That had actually occured to me... Alan I think you may have slightly missed my point. I am not expecting a solicitor to work for peanuts - they have trained hard in their chosen profession and expect to be paid commensurately - just as I do. I believe the expression that has more rel...

Hello Violet A bit late now I realise - but just as a point of information - assuming your neighbour applied for planning permision for his extension - it is not only your business but your right to see any document contained in the casefile for that application (including presumeably the plans). Th...

Finding the best solicitor for the job

Hello again all As I've mentioned elsewehere - I am in the middle of a rather complex planning dispute involving a house being built on neighbouring land to us that is seriously affecting our amenity. It looks like my only course of action is to take civil action against the local council. I've done...

Thanks Conveyancer. As a footnote to this - our previous property (built in 1929) came with a whole assortment of interesting documents that tracked changes in ownership of the land back into the mid 19th C. Not only were they beautiful things - lovingly hand written in Copperplate scripts (just lik...

hi conveyencer I will post what they say when I have it. At the risk of being seen to hijack the thread (not my intention honest!) - that is very interesting what you say about non policy conforming applications needing to be referred to sec of state - if true it gives me yet another big stick to co...

despair - yes I think there is a scam - I'm sorry - I mean entirely legitimate exploitation of a loophole... See my above post. It seems it suffices for the council to put on the site notice 'Does not accord with the local development plan' or 'may affect a public right of way' or various other cond...

Many thanks for your speedy replies. As it turns out - this is purely a technical visit to confirm the results of a survey carried out by the council on the neighbouring development as a result of a complaint by myself regarding breach of aprooval. Also to make a visual assesment of the detrimental ...
