Re: squabble damage to forum

I feel like saying "I'm only halfway down my bucket of popcorn" but I agree that it's now very childish.

Re: General binding rules: GBR small sewage discharge to a surface water

I wonder, sometimes, if the powers that be actually look at the results of their edicts. Their reasoning might be right but the reality on the ground may not be possible. About 15ish years ago the government decided that every household should be on a separate water meter so when my OH died and the ...

Re: Squirrel damage to roof

Collaborate and Mr Sheen were being a bit naughty but were trying to gently point you in the right direction. 1. It's possible that the contractors that did the pruning weren't aware of your problems 2. Check for TPO's on the trees. If there are no TPO's you are entitled to cut back the branches to ...

Re: Party Wall demolished in Listed Building

You will get good advice on this site. However, I don’t know if you have already visited “periodproperty.co.uk” where you will also find good advice and help.

Re: Resurfacing a Right of Way

Sounds as if he thinks that because he has a row he thinks he owns the driveway. After 12 years of harassment from a neighbour, it wasn’t until he was moving I found out that he was under the misconception that he owned the passageway next to my house.

Re: How to be an NFH?

That was fun. I loved it. I lived here for 8 years with all neighbours in the terrace living in harmony and helping each other until the house of one of the neighbours who died was sold to a NFH. My immediate next door house is now on it’s 4th owner since then as the others gave up trying. The NFH h...

Re: Parking a motor home without permission.

I’m wondering if locking the gates might cause more problems. Just because none of the tenants owns a vehicle doesn’t mean that they don’t have visitors that do. If the use of the carpark is part of the tenancy agreement then you are preventing their legitimate visitors from using it.

Re: Fallen leaves and fruit

I've been reading this thread with interest. It's all low level harassment. I put up with this for 12 years. I did tell my children about it but they just thought I was being silly until my daughter was here last summer when he(next door neighbour but one) appeared in my garden and started shouting ...

Thankyou. I haven't had a laugh like that for ages. He has the High Hedge law wrong but on top of an invitation to go with friends to Cyprus in November, it's made my Sunday morning.

Re: Let's see if we can propose a better way of dispute proposal

I have tried posting to this thread twice before, but my postings haven’t appeared. Both times I seem to have pressed the send button at the same time as someone else. As a parish/Town Councillor of 13 years I have an issue with Pilmans comment about the quality of said councillors, although I don’t...

Squatters

This is a weird one. I was the accountant for a local pub and I want it reopened. It is being marketed as a pub. Yesterday squatters broke in and have taken it over. I understand the difference between squatters in commercial property and private property. What happens in this case where the ground ...

I would advocate all property disputes (at least many) should be dealt with by a form of parish council or representative.
Parish Council’s are unpaid consultative bodies made up of volunteers. They have no legislative powers to interfere in or get involved in neighbour disputes.

Re: Boundary with council footpath and open garden

I suspect that although you own the land, it is classed as amenity land. This means it can't be enclosed. I have a similar problem. I've decided that the local council have more money than me so I'm not going to fight them.

Land registry

This is an odd one. When I divorced my husband 26 years ago we stayed on friendly terms for several years until he met his now wife. I’m not going into the ins and outs of it but he very soon stopped talking to me. We had an agreement in writing and drawn up by a solicitor. I can no longer find the ...
