Re: Gardening according to the goddess of fertility & abunda

Thanks for the link arborlad. Still working my way through it but I've added a few more to the thread.

Re: Max. shed height?

Yes, it does seem crazy. If it's interpreted that way, you could butt together two sheds, one exactly 2.5m and one higher, making the same overall profile provided their junction wasn't closer than 2m to the boundary.

Re: Feeling blue ... tell me your own best-ever joke, please

An elderly cockney gent shuffles slowly into an off-license, leans on his walking stick and asks the young lad behind the counter: "Can you recommend a good Australian wine, sonny?" The assistant responds with the suggestion "Jacob's Creek", to which the old guy replies "no sonny, just me knees". --...

Max. shed height?

Can anyone explain the planning law on shed heights please? I have read that sheds over 2.5 high require planning consent if they are closer than 2m to the boundary. Does this mean the part of the shed that is over 2.5m high mustn't be within the 2m, or does it mean that no part of the shed can be w...

Re: Gardening according to the goddess of fertility & abunda

So did I. I like the homeopathy one. The wife spent a fortune on a homeopathist some years ago. She went privately, but only decided on homeopathy because she had read that it was available on the NHS, which (to her) gave it some credibility. Basically, he treated her with tiny bottles of wat...

Re: Subject Access Request and domestic property.

I don't think so. If you haven't registered with the ICO, there wouldn't be a registered Data Controller.
And if there's no Data Controller there is no official point of contact to send a Subject Access Request to.

Re: Welsh govt. doubles council tax for English owners

I read recently that 93% of holiday homes in Wales are owned by English people. If that and JohnP's posts are correct, the tax would seem to be the very definition of racism! Thanks for the info Thin and Crispy. I didn't realise it was quite that high a percentage. So it is predominantly English pe...

Re: Welsh govt. doubles council tax for English owners

Hi John, You seem to be assuming the property is left empty. It isn't. My mother still uses it, just not full time. In your world, what degree of "unoccupation" would you consider acceptable? In my world, and yours: 12B Higher amount for dwellings occupied periodically: Wales (1) For any financial ...

Re: Welsh govt. doubles council tax for English owners

Perhaps the OP will now apologise then for the offensive and misleading title/statements and his offensive comments. I'm very surprised that a thread aimed at bashing a section of the UK is considered acceptable on the forum.....especially when the statements are incorrect and nothing more than the...

Re: Welsh govt. doubles council tax for English owners

The name you have given your post suggests that it is only English people that this rule applies to. Surely it would be the same for Welsh people who had a house in a similar situation. You have not made any mention of the House Insurance which your mother pays. From my experience (three bereavemen...

No, John. I understand that armed forces personnel, as well as people in prison, are exempt from this additional tax.

Re: Welsh govt. doubles council tax for English owners

Surely if you visit the property regularly with your mother it does not fit the description of being unocupied full time AND which remain "substantially furnished". . Have you actually received notification that the property will be classed as such, or are you simply assuming so? We have been told ...

Re: Welsh govt. doubles council tax for English owners

The title is entirely inaccurate. English people have not been singled out for unfair treatment in Wales which would be illegal. There is a shortage of homes throughout the UK. Wales also has this problem as well as a substantial homeless population and families living in inadequate B&B accommodati...

How would you feel if your elderly parents were forced to give up their home to someone considered more worthy of occupying it? Who is fit to make that judgement?
