Re: Hedge and Boundary Issues semi detached house

It's a moot point whether you write to him, solicitors letter or your own. Why give him such respect? I appreciate you might want it all in writing though as he is such a scaredy-cat whinger. His hedge growth on your side of the boundary certainly does not allow him to over-fly and colonise your lan...

Re: Right of way abuse

Not sure if a 'no smoking' sign won't provoke a drunken and possibly violent reaction. I like the idea of a security light PIR activated. How about CCTV as well (with a sign)? It's your land. Aren't the smokers trespassing by treating the yard, your land, as their own private smoking area? As a land...

Re: My neighbour taking me to court ( advice pls )

Rob when I went through Oxford Court small claims procedure last year we each had to post direct plus a copy to the court, which obviously saves the court unnecessary extra work and postage and being responsible for copying evidence. Possibly procedures vary from court to court but I would doubt it....

Re: fence with gap

I strongly agree a solicitors letter would be completely over the top and could launch a dispute  I still hope to hear that the OP has swallowed her anger/aploplexy/dismay and been able to chat with the neighbour over a cup of tea or not. Sometimes we keep quiet and things build up in our own...

Re: fence with gap

I imagine the unsightly bits of wood are the no cost 'solution' to stop their garden where raised from falling away. Strictly legally speaking you shouldn't be messing with the wood - not your property! As I said earlier the only satisfactory long term solution is to have put concrete gravel boards ...

Re: Dangerously clueless neighbour

Log of events from now on, pics as possible, complaint to the police in the phrase as advised by asp383 earlier. No point in pussy footing around any more. Make a note of your today conversation especially 'I have been shooting since I was seven and know what I am doing'. He quite clearly has not ke...

Re: fence with gap

I quite agree cleo5 but I put forward the cup of tea approach as the ideal. Given things are probably beyond a civilised chat the OP can I suppose try the offensive as the only recourse after all this time. And must be prepared to get non cooperation. In which case short of an injunction for the nei...

Re: fence with gap

The time to deal with this was when it happened. Now is probably too late. Pettily removing plastic, him replacing with wood etc is not helping. If it were me I would want some sort of proper long-lasting retaining wall for his raised land, which is what should have been there all along. Now, way la...

Can you explain the circumstances? Any similarities with the OP's situation?

Re: Dangerously clueless neighbour

Ok good man Fairclough it's not easy to do this after your last experience I appreciate. CCTV is *not* the same as photographic evidence. There are specific regs around recording CCTV of others' property and (soon) ISO registration needs, as has already been explained. But anyone is free to take pho...

Re: Dangerously clueless neighbour

Keep comms open by pushing the trees, high hedge etc and get them removed pronto. Ask him round for a glass of wine or whatever and share your new-found knowledge of guns, safety and shooting birds and provide him with copies of the posts made by asp383. Express your and your wife's mortal fear of d...

Re: Dangerously clueless neighbour

(If you PM you can swap email addresses and attach the diagram if you don't want to go 'cloud') The 'High Hedges' legislation: this is specifically aimed at conifers. A hedge is a line of 2 or more. If it blocks light from your house or garden you might have a case. There are some useful documents h...
