raised garden. wall in need of repair

Postby duncanb » Wed Sep 14, 2016 11:45 am

Our neighbours garden is about 4 feet higher than ours in parts. The sandstone wall is his responsibility and is beginning to crumble (ie stones are coming out, 1kg to 5 kg in weight). About 6 years ago the wall at the bottom was beginning to ingress into our garden so my Dad leaned paving stones against it to protect our shed.
We have spoken to the neighbour over the last 6 years about it and he has promised to put it right, but so far his actions are not in keeping with his words.

We have been very patient but feel we need to be much more forceful with him.
Can anybody shed some light on the way forward

Hi duncanb,

the way forward:

leave your neighbour to look after his own property, and in the event it causes damage to yours seek compensation.

obviously, there's nothing wrong with encouraging him to be pro-active and sort the wall out before it potentially gets expensive for him...

Kind regards, Mac
