Lacey leaves on shrubs and trees

Post by whichway » Fri Sep 11, 2009 9:11 am

Has anyone any idea what the insect is that has attacked my shrubs and at least 50 trees this year. Hornbeam and even oak are affected. Will it kill them, is there anything I can do about it

Any ideas gratefully accepted

Could be thrips? The above links should be helpful.

Thank you for the link but it doesn't seem to be the problem. I will try and take a photo just in case anyone has the same problemand has managed to erradicate it.

It was as though one day healthy trees and plants, next lace leaves. Whatever it is has swept through the wood and onto shrubs etc. It attacked the shrubs early on, so much so no flowers but I have noticed the younger shoots are flowering now. Once again many thanks

There are a number of possible culprits - Leaf miners, Sawflies, moths etc.

hi
it will be better to judge if you could atleast describe the nature of the insect or worms which is affecting your shrubs. so that we can give you some opinions and ideas.
like how the insect or worms which is affecting your shurbs look, does it spread, or lay eggs...
